365 Cards: Sing-Along!

I hope you never lose your sense of wonder
You get your fill to eat
But always keep that hunger
May you never take one single breath for granted
God forbid love ever leave you empty handed
I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance

I hope you never fear those mountains in the distance
Never settle for the path of least resistance
Living might mean taking chances
But they're worth taking
Lovin' might be a mistake
But it's worth making
Don't let some hell bent heart
Leave you bitter
When you come close to selling out
Reconsider
Give the heavens above
More than just a passing glance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

I hope you still feel small
When you stand by the ocean
Whenever one door closes, I hope one more opens
Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance

And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance
Dance
I hope you dance
I hope you dance
(Time is a real and constant motion always)
I hope you dance
(Rolling us along)
I hope you dance
(Tell me who)
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
I hope you dance
(Where those years have gone)

(Tell me who)
I hope you dance
(Wants to look back on their youth and wonder)
(Where those years have gone)

Today's challenge at 365 Cards is a Sing-Along challenge!  Take the song "I Hope You Dance," by Lee Ann Womack, and let it inspire you to make a card.  After listening and reading all the lyrics, the one that really stuck out to me was this line, "Never settle for the path of least resistance."  to me it says, "good luck," "you can do it," or some kind of encouragement -- maybe even a graduation card or something like that.

I got to use a great image from Robyn's Fetish Digital Stamps.  I printed it once on vintage cream cardstock, then again on ripe avocado (PTI colors), then I cut them out and layered them.  I added some ink to the blossom and a button and voila! :)  The woodgrain background is something I had already stamped when I made another card earlier this week, so that was a quick addition and I love the way it looks with the other colors.  For the sentiment, I just printed it from the computer, then used PTI's vintage tea dye ink combo to give the paper some aging and added that frame around the sentiment.  I love how subtle it looks and it just ties everything together I think.

I hope this song will inspire you today!  It really has a great message and now that I think about it, I'm pretty sure a friend of mine used it in his graduation speech at our high school graduation!  Anyway, I hope you get lots accomplished today (or enjoy a lazy day if that's what the doctor ordered).  Happy Saturday!
