365 Cards: Harvest Fest (and some of my favorite paper!)

Hello, happy Saturday!  I know it's been a little while and life has been crazy around here!  First, I want to show off something I've been working on for a little while, which is the website and blog design for Lori George Photography!  Take a look!

I've been pretty sick with a cold since Wednesday, so between that and the redesign for LGP, I've had my hands full (not to mention taking care of my daughter).

Today's challenge at 365 Cards features products by DRS Designs!  I got this cute little scarecrow stamp that put me in a loop at first.  I don't typically know what to do with stamps that I have to color in because literally all I have to color anything is a box of crayons.  The challenge is to use 2 images and 3 colors that are typically associated with autumn.  I kind of cheated, considering the scarecrow and the pumpkin he's holding as 2 separate images, but it works for me!  I loooooove this plaid paper (Cosmo Cricket).  So, my colors were orange (several shades), brown and green.

I also want to share my card from last week.  The challenge was to make a card that could be used with more than 1 occasion.  We had a sponsor that week too, which was Wink Wink Ink.

The stamp I used actually had a little mouse in it who looked like it was stuck in jam, but I wanted to show the versatility of digital stamps.  It didn't take more than a minute or two to make some small edits... then you have a completely new and different stamp!  Thinking of different occasions, I was thinking of what we could "fill" the jar with.  Maybe it's filled with love or friendship... maybe it's filled with a hug.  Or you could use some of your other stamps/embellishments and literally put something else in there!  I know I'll be using this stamp again!

That's all for now.  I'm counting down the days to fall and love that the air is starting to get a little crisp here in Kansas.  Have a great weekend and I'll be back soon!

CARDS Published!

Hello! Happy Labor Day!  I hope everyone is enjoying some beautiful weather and the last of a 3 day weekend!  I want to share a little something with you today.... it's a card I made that was published in the August 2010 issue of CARDS Magazine!  The photograph they took for the magazine is much better than this one, but I don't have the magazine yet, so this will have to do :)  It uses some fun summery colors before we head completely into fall!

Doesn't this just make you want to go fly a kite??  The clouds are cut out with my Silhouette and are from an image by Hero Arts.  I hand cut the kite and bow and added some braided twine and a button.  That's it!  You could make one too!  :)

Also, I want to direct you to the September 2010 issue of CARDS Magazine as well, which is currently on the stands!  I have THREE cards featured in this issue, which is a new record for me :)  I haven't seen it yet, but I'm gonna make my way over to Hobby Lobby to take a look soon!

That's all for today.  I hope everyone has a great week ahead of them and thanks for stopping by!

365: Divide and Conquer!

Hello and Happy Saturday!  I hope everyone's enjoying their 3-day weekend!  I woke up in a panic this morning thinking the AC had been running full blast all night, but no, it's really that cool outside today!  I can't believe it!  Poor Adelle though, I think she has allergies.  We played outside for a long time last night at the soccer fields and Ithink she's paying for it today.  Still, here's a super cute picture of her and her daddy that I took with my phone:

Now, on to the reason for this post!  since it's Saturday, that means it's time for a card for 365 Cards!  I had fun with this challenge and enjoyed the break from a sponsor this week.  Pam asked me to make a card that was divided into 6 equal parts, but none of the sections could be touching each other.  So, I thought it was time to put some fun patterned paper scraps to good use:

I got these scraps at CHA.  We were doing a make-and-take at the very end of the last day where there was just a ton of paper and good stuff on the tables, so when they were cleaning up, I got to take some big scraps that they were just going to through away!  I can't remember who this paper is by, which is kind of embarrassing, so if anyone knows, please tell me!!!!

I used a square punch first, then rounded two of the corners on each one.  Add a button accent, a sentiment sticker, and you're done!  Oh, and I raised each section up with fun foam.  You might be noticing by now that this is my favorite color combination! :)

Thanks for stopping by and I'll see you soon!

Oh, by the way.  Notice the top of my far right sidebar, there's a new banner for Minted.com.  I've been submitting some photo card designs for their contests, so if you like what I've done, vote for me (when it comes time to do that...)!  Thanks for all of your support!  I really enjoy blogging because I know that at least someone is enjoying reading it!

Now go play outside!

Free Printable!

I want to share a little freebie with you that I found!  This is for printable sewing cards (for kids to learn how to stitch).  Very cute and easy easy!!

Also, if you follow me on Twitter, sometimes I put stuff on there that I don't post on the blog (freebies especially).  Thanks!
