{the person}

I am from Kansas and I come from a very large family.  We are now living in Oklahoma.  My husband Lucas is my best friend and we have 2 gorgeous daughters together.  We have a 4 year-old daughter Adelle who is the happiest, most adult kid I've ever known.  Then there is Evelyn who is smart, opinionated and LOVES her big sister. My family and my faith are extremely important to me and I am striving to grow as a child of God, a Mother, a Wife every day.  I love to sing and play soccer.  I love cheesy musicals and ABC Family movies.  I love music, especially singer/songwriters who apparently no one else has ever heard of.  I am a social person and love getting to know new people with common interests!

{the cardmaker and designer}

I've never really thought of myself as an artistic person.  Give me a pen and paper to create something and I'll probably just practice my penmanship.  My sister Lori got me into scrapbooking, but I always felt like I was so behind and it was too overwhelming for what was supposed to be a fun hobby.  In March of 2009 I really discovered scrapbooking blogs and cardmaking challenge blogs.  Now take a step back to 2008.  I was working as a Special Education Paraeducator at one of the high schools in town.  A new semester means a completely new experience at work because we were each assigned to work with students in different classes.  I had the opportunity to work with two students in a Digital Media class that taught the basics of photo composition and Adobe Photoshop, Illustrator and InDesign.  Of course in order for the students to learn it, I had to learn it and then teach it to them.  Needless to say, I fell in love and have been expanding my knowledge ever since.  Now I have a growing business with my sister called Prairie Sweet Boutique, a resource for digital papers/elements and high-end design/business resources for photographers.

{creativity inspired}

"You may think you don’t have talents, but that is a false assumption, for we all have talents and gifts, every one of us. The bounds of creativity extend far beyond the limits of a canvas or a sheet of paper and do not require a brush, a pen, or the keys of a piano. Creation means bringing into existence something that did not exist before – colorful gardens, harmonious homes, family memories, flowing laughter. What you create doesn’t have to be perfect… Don’t let the voices of critics paralyze you – whether that voice comes from the outside or the inside. If you still feel incapable of creating, start small. Try to see how many smiles you can create, write a letter of appreciation, learn a new skill, identify a space and beautify it."
